At a Distance

We know what’s involved in making final arrangements when your or your loved one’s native country is far away, and we understand the special issues and emotions that can arise. Whether you’re making advance arrangements for yourself or arrangements for a loved one, our services can help bring families together, protect them when they’re apart, and bring you or your loved one home.

Today, family members might live across the street, across the state, across the country, or across the globe. When the death of a loved one occurs far away, the burden on family to travel to the services can often increase stress at an already difficult time. Our Bereavement Travel Services can help. When you use a Funeraria Del Angel , Memorial Plan or any funeral or cemetery provider of the Dignity Memorial® network, the Bereavement Travel Program travel specialists will work with you to find the best available travel options throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as many international destinations. On a moment’s notice, dedicated travel specialists will seek the best available airfares, hotel accommodations and car rentals for all family and friends to attend the funeral, cremation, memorial or graveside service of a loved one. There is a nominal fee associated with the issuance of an airline ticket. We know how important it is for families separated by distance to be together after the loss of a loved one, and we’re pleased to help make travel arrangements easier.

Sometimes, the travel required after the death of a loved one involves the return of the deceased to his or her country of birth for burial or funeral. The procedures and required documents for shipping a body vary by country. We can help you interpret the requirements, and are proficient in making these arrangements. When your or your loved one’s wish is to be returned to another state or country, you can rely on us to make the necessary arrangements with care and compassion.

When you’re away from your home, all Dignity Memorial network providers, including Funeraria Del Angel and Memorial Plan, offer important protections for the future. Too often, people may choose not to prearrange their funeral services because they are unsure of where they may be living in the future, or they view their current residence as temporary. Don’t let that be a barrier to making your final arrangements. With our National Transferability of Prearranged Services, your prearranged funeral services are fully transferable and will be honored by any Dignity Memorial network provider should you move more than 75 miles from where your original plans were made. With this benefit, you can enjoy the security of having made your funeral plans, as well as the flexibility to relocate in the future while keeping your wishes for your final arrangements intact.

Protection while you travel is important, too, particularly if you frequently visit family members or loved ones far away. The Away From Home Protection® product*, offered to our customers by American Pre-Arrangement Services Inc., provides for the repatriation of remains when death occurs more than 75 miles from the permanent residence of the party for whom it was purchased. It’s protection that you and your loved ones hope you’ll never need, but will be invaluable if you ever do.

Whether it’s you or a loved one who is living or traveling away from their homeland, distance from family and friends can present particular challenges when considering final arrangements. Our funeral service professionals are multicultural, multilingual and experienced in meeting the needs of a culturally diverse community. We respect the customs of all cultures and faiths, and are dedicated to working with you to plan services – whether for yourself or your loved one – that capture the wishes and traditions that are important to you. Even far from home, you can count on us to bridge to the distance when it matters most.

*American Pre-Arrangement Services Inc. will provide full assistance, including consular services, should death occur outside of the United States. Death must occur more than 75 miles from permanent residence. Not available for purchase in KY, NY, NJ, OR, Alberta or British Columbia.
